Giambattista Valli Is Launching (Very Expensive) Athleisure

If you thought athleisure was a fading trend, think again. Giambattista Valli, known for his dreamy ball gowns loved by Rihanna, will be releasing a 50+ piece activewear collection in January 2018.
“It’s a capsule collection where we will express a more functional side of the brand, while remaining faithful to the atmosphere of contemporary chic that is part of its DNA,” Valli told WWD.
This isn't the first time Valli has dabbled in sportswear. He collaborated with Moncler Gamme Rouge, a ten-year partnership that ended this year with a final ballerina-inspired collection. His eponymous Fall 2017 runway featured Nike leggings styled with his signature couture shapes.

But don't expect to be running in tiered taffeta; This collection is not actual performance gear. Think puffer jackets, track suits and après-ski gear, with beachwear to eventually follow. The collection will retail from €1,100 to €2,500. What did you expect? This is athleisure, but make it couture.
