Woman throws message into sea wanting a date - six years later she gets a peculiar response

It took six years, but eventually Hayley's experiment paid off

Saccharine tear-jerkers like The Notebook are all well and good, but real-life romance tends to be a lot more mundane, not to mention pitted with disappointment
Still, this didn't stop 18-year-old optimist and romantic Hayley Robbins from letting the universe decide her romantic fate six years ago.
On a trip to the beach Hayley wrote her name and phone number on a softball asking "cute guys" to text her before casting it in to the ocean.
Time passed, nothing happened and, as you'd expect, Hayley forgot about her little experiment.
Then, last week she received a text message . Take that, cynics!
It read "Hey, I wanna be a superhero. Guess my name" and was from a man called Adam.
Could Hayley's act of faith have paid off?
Well, not exactly.
In true cinematic style, there was a plot twist in store for Hayley.

"Adam" wasn't actually Adam.

Instead, it turned out that "Adam" was a 16-year-old girl named Ashley, who then admitted her real name was Kelci and she'd been lying about being both Adam and Ashley for reasons that remain unclear. Kids, eh?
It could have turned very sour. Hayley had essentially been catfished after all. But instead she was completely OK with Adam/Ashley/Kelci's actions - and the two have since become friends.
