Why you should put your tights in the freezer overnight before wearing them - even in winter

It sounds like the last thing you should be doing in the cold weather - but there's a good reason why

There's a decided chill in the air, and in response, women all over the country have been cracking out the 70 denier opaques.
That is, apart from Meghan Markle , who decided to shun royal tradition and go bare legged for her engagement photoshoot. Brave woman.
Tights do a great job of keeping us warm, but fashion expert and stylist Denise Caldwell wants us to actually put them in the FREEZER before putting them on.
Her reasoning behind this?

To banish ladders forever. Or certainly for a while.

What you need to do, specifically, is soak your tights in water, place them in a sandwich bag and pop them in freezer overnight.

The next day, thaw them out on the radiator and put them on.
The science behind it claims that by freezing and defrosting the tights, the fibres are toughened up, making them more run-resistant, The Sun reports.
Stylist Denise Caldwell also told Today.com that freezing them help them to maintain keep their colour, as well as preventing them from bobbling and becoming a fluff magnet.
Ladder in Tights
Nightmare
Denise explained: "Freezing your tights is a quirky, yet budget-savvy way to help keep your tights longer, (and stay) run-free, lint-free and vibrant in colour.
"It's definitely a trick to try!"
A ladder or run can also be nipped in the bud with either a dab of nail polish or a quick squirt of hairspray.
